Photography in film and painting
My painting revolves around abstractions, where color is given its own "musical playground". In the monumental format, color tones receive a "higher dimension" visually. In my working with photography these past two years, I have been in search for these musical abstractions, especially in my project together with Joakim Brolin, Creeping in Circles, but also in the installation Watercolors. The video sequences show the color lump sucked down the drain and then revealing itself in an abstract and amorphous pattern. The snapshot in these sequences is the starting point for a series of paintings. At first, they give an overall effect of photographic realism, but at closer study, alter themselves to an almost abstract expressionistic painting. Again, these paintings have initiated a series of new photo sessions, including the suite "Drain", a set of thirty photographs.
